A note from the journal

Look a little longer.

Far & Field is a small collection of landscape essays and visual studies. An invitation to make a little room for the world outside.

Mist threading between the dark silhouettes of forest trees

For the unhurried
and the curious.

A coastline traced by white surf. A mountain doubled in a lake. Trees fading into a pale morning. These are ordinary subjects with an extraordinary capacity to hold our attention.

This journal begins with photographs, then follows the shapes, textures and small details inside them. Some stories explore a landscape; others simply suggest a different way to look.

Far & Field brings together openly available, licensed photography and original editorial reflections. Every image has a credited creator. The essays are studies of images and landscapes, rather than personal accounts of journeys.

01 / Attention

The small things count.

A detail at the edge of the frame can be just as interesting as the view everyone came to see.

02 / Space

A quieter kind of reading.

Short essays, thoughtful images and room to pause between one story and the next.

03 / Credit

Every image has a maker.
